Carbohydrate

The carbohydrate stigma is growing, but is the carbohydrate really to blame?

When You Have To Carbohydrate Counting Madness By Your Side...

... you better understand what a carbohydrate diet can do

This country is becoming increasingly prone to obesity and many will quickly attribute that to an excess of carbohydrate intake that are ingested by Americans on a day to day basis. But it seems that it is not the amount of the carbohydrate that are consumed, but rather the type of carbohydrate is making the difference and putting extra weight on individuals. Overweight people are actually consuming more of the refined carbohydrate than is good for them. They include carbohydrates found in white bread and pasta and are responsible for large and quick spikes in blood sugar levels.

Our affair with fast food and its bad carbohydrate content

So it has been found that the refined carbohydrate is largely to blame for the prevalence of obesity in our country.

The refined carb can be found especially in processed foods that are also high in sugar. This sugar will be stored in the muscle and if it is not used it will turn into fat. As a response to the numbers of obese people in this country many people are now trying to take off the weight through a low carbohydrate diet. Unfortunately though these diets do not address the fact that research and studies have shown that it matters not how many carbohydrates are consumed, what matters is the kind you are consuming.

Therefore more and more doctors and nutritionists are re-evaluating the whole idea of a carbohydrate counter. In fact some people actually need a high-carb diet. Overall the body prefers the carbs found in vegetables over those found in grains because their make-up slows their conversion to sugars such as glucose and decreases you level of insulin.

Alright, so now you are scared to death of carbs. It does not have to be that way. Just keep it in perspective. The important thing to keep in mind is that the best way to take off weight, and keep it off is to do it slowly. A diet is not something you should be on for a few days or weeks in order to squeeze into a particular pair of pants. Re-evaluate our plans to go on a low carbohydrate and consider making an actual lifestyle change that will allow you to have the body you desire and wish to keep.
