Everything You Have To Know About Going Low Carb

Are you thinking about starting a low carb diet?

Lots of people have tried a low carb diet and had success, even though it gets a lot of bad press. Whether or not a low carbdiet will work for you or not depends on you--and your willpower. The best way to start is to find out all the facts surrounding low carb diets and the controversy. The more information you have the better choice you will make as to whether or not a low carb diet is for you and which one you should adhere to.

Low carb diets are becoming more and more prevalent

Low carb diets come in many different varieties. There's the Atkins diet, Protein Power, the South Beach diet, Life Without Bread, Neanderthin, The Zone and more. While some are much more strict than others, all of them cut your low carb candy consumption drastically and recommend a good carb counter. Instead, the carbs are replaced with protein and some fats. Most low carb diets recommend that you get 60-70% of your daily calorie intake from fat, and only 10% of your diet should come from carbs. (Some of the stricter low carb diets suggest that less than 5% of your daily calorie intake should come from carbs.)

All of this might be pretty hard to swallow after years of being told we should watch our fat intake to lose weight and maintain good health. But hey, we are telling you about low carb food because it will help you. Not because we love low carb recipes and writing about them all that much. Open up your mind a little. Besides, with adult-onset diabetes on the rise and Americans being the most overweight people on the planet, some researchers claim that carbohydrates are the problem--not fat.
